Audio and transcript of interview with Shankar Vedantam of NPR News. Vedantam reports on a study by Jonathan Obar at York University and Anne Oeldorf-Hirsch at the University of Connecticut. The researchers set up a fake social networking website and put outlandish provisions in the terms of use, including permission from the consumers for the site to share their information with the NSA and a requirement that the consumers give up their first-born children in consideration for using the site. According to the researchers, 98% of users never noticed these provisions.
